Hillary Clinton’s Bet is Pacman

“Pacman is going to win,” says Hillary.

It was exactly at 1:07 P.M. Manila time, when Clinton’s official plane landed Manila with its door disgorged by the men in black suits, also an indication that the 67th US Secretary of State has finally landed.  One of her stopovers was at Malanday High School in Marikina, where she presented book donations from USAID, opened their book fair, and announced US$5M more in flood relief assistance.  Thank you,  thank you!

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has been in the Philippines on a visit to show support for the country’s fight against extremists and its efforts to rebuild after three major storms rocked the islands.  In the photo shown above, Clinton gestures during a forum with students at the University of Santo Tomas, the Philippines’s oldest, in Manila, Philippines on Friday.

She responded to the discussions on her take of the upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto boxing match, poverty, climate change, and everything else.   Asked on who will win on the upcoming most recognized ring battle of the year, she said she has no doubt , Manny Pacquiao will win.  “Of course, the Pacman is going to win… is there any doubt?” The US Secretary‘s response drew loud applause in the meeting hall which was mostly attended by students from different chosen universities in Manila.

Pacman, tagged as the world’s top pound-for-pound boxer, will again reign in the ring.  Clinton’s prediction is too convincing to us Pinoys, though we cannot really tell until we see the fight.  A big chunk of the 36,338 who had voted so far or about 64 percent believe the Filipino boxing idol is going to win by either knockout or technical knockout.

On the other hand, 17 percent is going for a KO/TKO win for Cotto.

In the event the 12-round title fight goes the distance, Pacquiao still gets a double-digit batting average with 13 percent foreseeing a Pacman-via-decision outcome, and only seven percent favoring a Cotto win by the judges’ cards.

The most popular Filipino will be back in the boxing ring in Las Vegas on Saturday to take on Cotto of Puerto Rico in a 145-pound (66-kilogram) fight that will be closely watched back home.  Here’s hoping for the deserving fighter to win.

“Always give glory to the Highest Throne, our Maker.”
