Good news to all boxing fans, Bob Arum vows to get the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight done.

The fight the world has been waiting for appears ripe for the picking right now, especially with the way the two fighters disposed their respective opponents in their last outing.  

Manny Pacquiao proved too classy against an outmatched Joshua Clottey during their March 13 World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title bout at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, which the Filipino southpaw won by a unanimous decision.   

The mega bout of Pacquiao against the controversial boxer, Floyd Mayweather is being eyed in November.  Promoter, Bob Arum wants the fight to happen late this year, or  sometime in November.   

Arum said, “A good time for that fight would be November. That would be a perfect time.”  If ever the two parties come to the table again and start negotiating, Arum hopes it would be a private matter.  We just need to wait and see who the best boxer is when the two match in the ring soon.

The Trainer of the Year recipient stated that Pacquiao is comfortable fighting at 147 lbs. “Making 135 was a bit of a struggle, making 140, we can make 140 with ease, but he likes the extra strength, he likes eating the day of the weigh-in,” added Roach. “When Manny’s eating the day of the weigh-in and gets to eat twice before the weigh-in, he’s happy, and that’s when he performs at his best, when he’s smiling and in a good mood. He’s not in an angry mood because he’s starving himself.” Pacquiao, the only seven-division world champion, is set to face former International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion Clottey at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Filipino boxing superstar will defend the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title which he won after beating Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto in November. The pound-for-pound king was supposed to face undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr., but negotiations for the fight crumbled due to their disagreement on the drug testing procedure. Asked by BoxingTalk.com if Team Clottey will ask for additional drug testing on Pacquiao, Clottey’s manager Vincent Scolpino said, “Whatever rules apply in the state are what we will abide by.” “Hopefully, everybody will be professional in the situation and we won’t have anything to worry about,” he added. Team Pacquiao, however, chose Clottey. “It’s a great opportunity for Josh against the best fighter in the world and he’s going to do what he has to do,” noted Scolpino. He went on to say about Pacquiao: “He’s one of the best fighters ever. He throws his hands and that’s all you could ask for from a guy. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him.”

Everyone got frustrated by the noise of talk punches between Pacquiao and Mayweather’s camps respectively.  Little did anyone know that the more heat sparking between the two, the more it becomes impossible for the fight to happen.  True enough, shortly after the court filing, numerous public statements, and drug testings, their much-awaited bout died.  No doubt Pacman’s career continues to rise with millions of fans waiting.  Now it’s Pacuiao-Clottey fight everyone is excited about.

It cannot be denied that Mayweather’s representatives are still holding out hope that the fight with Pacquiao could be salvaged. Mayweather also is expected to fight March 13 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, which would have been the site of his fight with Pacquiao. Paulie Malignaggi has been the most popular contender for that fight.

It may be true that Clottey has no fraction of Mayweather’s fame, but he’s a worthy welterweight opponent for Pacquiao, widely considered the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world. The hard-hitting Clottey (35-3, 20 KOs), a native of Ghana who lives in New York, is coming off a split-decision loss to Miguel Cotto last June, a fight that some felt Clottey won.  The deal was closed on Sunday for Manny Pacquiao to fight Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas on March 13.  Filipinos are once again exited to participate on Manny’s succeeding victories but giving their prayers and support.  Good luck to our “Pambansang Kamao!”
